For the last three years a group of Alpha Delta Pi sisters come together each October in Chicago to run 26.2 miles for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Team ADPi is lacing up their sneakers again for the 4th consecutive year and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome the runners back to the Windy City on October 9th for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon! This year we have 41 runners which includes collegians, alumnae, sisters, brothers, husbands, fathers, nieces, and friends of Alpha Delta Pi.
At present, Team ADPi has raised more than $25,000 for our favorite charity and there is still time to help get us to the Top Fundraising Team for Team RMHC and get them closer to their $1.5 million goal. Now let’s take a closer look at some of our amazing runners!
The Locals- The sisters of Theta Mu Chapter at Loyala University are leading the pride with SEVEN runners! Anne Margaret Bautista, Jessica Goolsby, Jessie Jankoski, Crista Nishimoto, Maura Partridge, Rachel Reed, and Gabrielle Wojtala are the collegians who will collectively run 183.4 miles for RMHC on October 9th. We also have alumnae sisters from Zeta Theta Chapter at Illinois State University who will be running with Team ADPi. Both Dana Starr and Carolyn Minear have joined us before and new to Team ADPi this year is Ashley Sarver. Ashley even convinced her husband (Mike Sarver) and sister (Heather Knorr) to join in the fun so they will also be running as part of Team ADPi! That brings us to our next group…
Sister Sister – Amy Hall Kilbride, Zeta Chapter at Southwestern University and sister-in-law Joanna Faulkner Hall, Zeta Psi Chapter at University of North Carolina, Greensboro will be running together. And alumna Ashley Haugen, Epsilon Mu Chapter at University of Northern Iowa, and her sister Amber Schwiesow will be running together on Team ADPi for the THIRD year in a row!
We Are Family – These runners can’t have all the fun by themselves and are involving family members in their quest to conquer the 26.2 miles of the Chicago Marathon! Coach Jennifer Brown Arends, Beta Sigma Chapter at Mercer University recruited her brother-in-law, Raymond Arends to join Team ADPi. After watching Mallory Necessary Scate
s, Zeta Omicron Chapter at Georgia Tech, run last year, her husband, Mitchell Scates wanted to join her this time around. Long time runner Bob Tarne watched daughter Kate Tarne, Zeta Rho Chapter at Vanderbilt University, run her first marathon on Team ADPi last year and decided to join her this year. As an added bonus, Kate will be running the Chicago Marathon on her birthday! Alumna Joyce Matthews Raidle, Epsilon Lambda Chapter at the University of South Florida asked her two nieces, Lindsay Herrington and Laura Jones to run with Team ADPi this year. We even have a mother-daughter dynamic duo running this year – Lisa Schauwecker Baumbach, Gamma Pi Chapter at Wagner College and Emma Baumbach, Eta Phi Chapter at Furman University.
The Pros – We have many returning runners to Team ADPi (several listed above) and here are a some more! Alaina Shamp Barnes, Delta Upsilon Chapter at University of Tennessee, Martin is running for the second year in a row. Also running for the second year in a row is Meg Alexander, Zeta Xi Chapter at the University of Virginia.
First. Finest. – Let’s give these sisters a HUGE round of applause – they will be running with Team ADPi for the first time this year. Megan Burditt, Epsilon Mu Chapter at the University of Northern Iowa; Rebecca Gentry, Eta Upsilon Chapter at Wake Forest University; Chloe Golden, Lambda Chapter at Brenau University; Rachel Kline, Zeta Omicron Chapter at Georgia Tech; Dara Lipke, Epsilon Mu Chapter at the University of Northern Iowa; Melanie Morris, Alpha Xi Chapter at the Ohio State University; Tenley Wallace, Eta Xi Chapter at Presbyterian College/Zeta Nu Chapter at Clemson University; Sara Wimmer, Delta Pi Chapter at Ripon College.
