Bring the Red Shoe Home: Team Alpha Delta Pi at the Chicago Marathon

On October 11, 2015, Alpha Delta Pi sisters will join Team Alpha Delta Pi for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities. We earned the Red Shoe Trophy in 2013 for being the top fundraising team for RMHC. Help us bring the Red Shoe Trophy back to Alpha Delta Pi this year!

Visit and select “Register Now,” then “Join a Team,” and search for “Alpha Delta Pi.” Then complete the registration process.

By signing up to run with the Alpha Delta Pi Team on behalf of RMHC, you are guaranteed entry into the Chicago Marathon, and your entry is free.

There is a minimum fundraising commitment of $1,000 if you register before April 21, 2015. After that, the minimum increases to $1,500. Don’t panic! We all know that RMHC is a wonderful charity, and our team members have not had any difficulty fundraising for RMHC for the last two races. Additionally, our ADPi Marathon Committee and RMHC will help runners brainstorm ideas and develop a plan to raise money. Furthermore, since Alpha Delta Pi is hosting a team within the RMHC group, everyone’s individual fundraising amounts help each other out. For instance, if you raise $500 and Sister Jennifer raises $1,500, then you’re both set.

Last year, we had approximately 30 sisters running on ADPi’s Marathon Team to benefit RMHC. Each runner receives a team running shirt and is invited to the RMHC team pre-race dinner on Saturday night. On race day, there will be food, restrooms, and a place for you to leave your belongings. After the race, you’ll come back to the RMHC tent in Charity Village for a post-race celebration, including food, drinks, music, free massages, changing tents, and anything else you might need (band aids, ice, ibuprofen, etc.). Your family is also welcome to hang out and meet you there.

In addition to Coach Brendan, Team RMHC’s coach, our very own Jennifer Brown Arends, Beta Sigma – Mercer University and Alpha Delta Pi Foundation’s VP of Philanthropy, will be sharing 16-week beginner and intermediate running plans with team members who would like to use them. Jennifer is a certified running and triathlon coach, and she’s also offered her professional services (with a sisterhood discount) to Team Alpha Delta Pi members who are looking to set a personal record or prefer a more personalized training plan.

Each team member is responsible for her own hotel and travel expenses.

Unfortunately, the Chicago Marathon does not currently offer a half marathon option.

Sisters who will not be running are encouraged to join Team Alpha Delta Pi’s cheering section. Watch ADPi’s social media channels for meet-up information next fall. Additionally, sisters can contribute to Team Alpha Delta Pi’s fundraising efforts at
