Alpha Delta Pi’s Grand Convention is a time to meet new sisters, learn about our history and strengthen our sense of sisterhood, and of course have fun. For many, Grand Convention is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so why not make the most of it and explore Dallas during your free afternoon.
Alpha Delta Pi will be offering discounted afternoon tours that can be booked through Executive Office with fun activities to explore Dallas with your sisters. These tour options will be sent out in May to registered attendees. This post gives just a sampling of Dallas attractions that are located close to the hotel. Check back in May to see the full tour options and make the most of your free afternoon!
The Nasher Sculpture Center is located only 0.4 miles from the hotel, and features different sculpture collections over an acre and a half space. If you are worried about the Dallas heat getting in your way of enjoying the beautiful sculptures, have no fear, the center has a gallery space that is 10,000 square feet for your air-conditioned pleasure!
Do you love American history and John Kennedy? Is your wardrobe inspired by Jackie Kennedy? If you do, you and a new sister you meet should walk about a mile and a half to The Sixth Floor Museum which commemorates the life of our 35th president. The museum features photographs, artifacts and special exhibits on Kennedy.
Sisters who love sea and the ecosystem should spend time 0.9 miles away from the hotel at The Dallas World Aquarium and Rainforest. Here, sisters can see different types of wildlife including birds, jaguars, fish, sea turtles, sharks, penguins, etc.
If you’re interested in having the whole Dallas experience, hop on board the M-Line Trolley. At these locations, people can enjoy sidewalk cafes, art galleries and antique stores, the DallasArt Museum, theaters, and more historical tours. The trolley is free and if you want air conditioning, makes sure you ride The Green Dragon, Petunia, or Matilda.
